One of my favorite towns in Europe is Vipiteno, Italy, where our good friend and ace guitarist Bob Alemanno has booked us many times. It's just south of the Brenner pass to Austria, and this time we played and stayed at the Zoll Sporthotel, a thousand-year-old building that was once the way station for travelers crossing the mountains. Our hosts Kathryn and Phillip were super and the concert was a blast, and if you're traveling through the area I highly recommend stopping there.

Hey remember these 45 spinners? Found one in the Woodstock Shop in Zagreb. Too big for my suitcase, tho. And for our second night in Zagreb we played the Museum of Punk Rock and New Wave, devoted to those bands who became heroes to the Croatian bands of the 80s and 90s. Fun show!

Tonight we are in Zagreb, Croatia, where out host, Darko, has a record shop specializing in Vinyl called the Woodstock Shop. Here he is with his son, Ian. Walking around Zagreb, it's an unusual combination of ultra-modern architecture, Soviet-era concrete block apartments, and old, rustic homes with little yards, sometimes right next to each other.
Marty Shadel Go climb the castle walls, quite a sight from on top of the castle walls!!!
Krishna Madan Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!
One point of traveling is to get perspectives that are different from those back home:
So while you're in Europe, ask the locals what they think of Israel's genocide of Palestinians.
You will get a very different opinion than you will here in the US.
Which prompts the question: why?

One of my most popular cds is still White Buffalo, recorded in Mark Dann's attic bedroom in 1984. In the US the physical cd is currently not available; but here in Europe, I have a few from Brambus Records, which include the original ten tracks plus two from No Commercial Traffic and an unreleased song "Routine Day In Paradise. " I can bring some back with me; if you'd like to get a physical cd, message me privately.
Frank Dorst Thanks for playing crosscountry walz in Bern yesterday. It was stunningly beautiful.
Karen Zack I still have mine.

In the summer of 1984 I was busking in Paris when I got a call from Germany. "We heard you on Fast Folk," she said. "Want to come to Germany and play a concert for a group of us who run coffeehouses?" I took the overnight train and played the Villingen Folk Club, and the next spring went back with Mark Dann and did a tour of Germany and Italy.
Tonight we play the Villingen Folk Club once again, maybe the 9th or 10th time. It'll be like old times. They're still going strong, and if you're in the south of Germany please come see us! Monday we're on to Innsbruck, Austria and then Zagreb, Croatia. For tonight: https://www.folk-club.de/home
